Friday 2/13/15 Case Study (50 word min)

Overlooked

Elise has worked in the same position for the past three years.  She is a dedicated worker who is well respected and liked by both management and her coworkers.  On at least three seperate occasions, she has applied for management positions that were ultimately give to staff members with less experience and education.  In the most recent case, the position was filled with an employee they hired from outside the company.  She doesn't know why this is happening.  She thinks this is unfair and has become angry, bitter, and resentful.  She wants to confront management about being overlooked for promotions, but is afraid they will see how bitter she has become.  She is wondering if she should just look for a new job.  What should Elise do?

  1. I think she should talk to the management about it. Tell them that she has more experience and has earned the job that she would like to have. Tell them that is she does not get the management position she is going to start looking for a new job that will get her to where she wants to be.

  2. I think elise should tell management to give her a promotion or else she will leave. She should not be taking this because she has honestly done her best and deserves some kind of respect for doing everything she possibly could for her company.

  3. She should talk to the manager about it. She is a good worker there they can't fire her. She is obviously being overlooked. Happens to everyone. I think if I were her I would definitely let someone know about it.

  4. I think Elise should tell management how she feels. Just because she wants to talk to the management doesn't mean she will seem bitter. If it doesn't work then warn them that she is going to look for another job that will treat her fairly and will be better for her.

  5. I think that you should confront your boss and if that blows up you should consider finding a new job. If they can point out exactly why she has not been getting promotions it would show that they are not over looking her but choosing the best candidate for the position.

  6. I think she should ask her boos why she is getting over looked every time there is a promotion considering all the time and effort she has been putting in to the company. If her boss doesn't give her a good enough answer then I would start to look for a new job.

  7. I think she should go to her boss and politely ask why they hired a person out side the company when she ahs been working there for several years. Its not fair to her when she has put a lot of effort in to helping people and not get a raise.

  8. I think she should go talk to her boss about the they situation. Since she has been there longer and is higher educated, she should get the promotion over someone that doesn't even work there. I would ask my boss what I am doing wrong and ask how I could fix it.

  9. She needs to make sure she is calm enough to speak to her management, and then she needs to do so. She needs to ask if there is anything that she could do to improve her chances at going into a management position. If she could be told what she is doing wrong, then maybe she could get the promotion after all.

  10. Talk to the management about why she is bitter about the situation and why she hasn't been able to get the upgrade and if that doesnt work then just forget about it and look for a new job

  11. i would go talk to them there is no point in stopping now. actually go talk to the people i mean who wants to quit a job after working there for so long. just go bring up the point that you have been there longer and maybe that they should be considering her next time.

  12. She needs to talk to the people about it but if they don't change it then she should leave the company and look for a new job because she should not have to put up with them giving jobs to the people who don't work as hard as her... but she should also see if maybe they are doing this because they like what she is doing in the position that she is currently in in the company.
