Rosa recently issued a reminder to her employees about non-smoking areas. She reminded them about the dangers of smoking in the warehouse vicinity where highly flammable and combustible materials are stored. She also reminded them about the small fire that broke out in the warehouse several years ago. She explained that smoking areas are designated outside the buildings for use during breaks. For several weeks after the reminder, Justin noticed the smell of cigarette smoke every time he went out to the warehouse. He also noticed that Tami makes an unusual number of daily trips out to the warehouse area. He knows she is a smoker but never sees her use the designated smoking areas. Justin decided to ask Tami why she never used the break area outside. She told him its too cold out there in the winter and too hot in the summer. Justin enjoys working with Tami and she is valued employee, but he's concerned about his safety at work. What should Justin do?
He should tell her that she is no longer allowed to smoke in the warehouse because it is a danger to everyone at the work. If she does it again that there will be a consequence. If it keeps happening then she will no longer be working their.
ReplyDeleteReport her or talk to her and say that its not a good idea because of the flammable stuff if she cant accept that then leave the work sight and let her learn that something like that is bad
ReplyDeletehe should tell her that if you consistently do this you will be fired. There is no reason you cant go outside for 5 minutes to have a smoke break. If anything happens you will be responsible for it.
ReplyDeleteHe should tell her that she can't smoke in the warehouse because she is puting all of the other employees in danger. If she is afraid of it being to hot or cold, she shouldn't be out there that long anyway.
ReplyDeleteHe should tell her that she is putting all of the other employees in danger more than herself. If she thinks it is too cold or too hot, she should suck it up or not do it at all at work then.
ReplyDeleteI would tell her that she is fully responsible for her actions. If something happens, then that is on her. She was told to use the designated smoking areas, but she still will not. There is no reason that she can't stand outside for five minutes.

ReplyDeleteI think he should tell his boss because it is a safety hazard and there is still is a chance that something could happen and some on may or may not get hurt. It may be hard to do because she is her friend but the longer he waits the more of a chance there is for something to happen or someone to get hurt.
ReplyDeleteI would tell the supervisor that shes not following the rules. She needs to wear the proper clothing if she knows shes going to need breaks and cant smoke right by the wear house. If she doesnt want to follow the rules she doesnt want her job bad enough and she needs to be fired.
ReplyDeletehe should just talk to her about it. If he just tells her his concern she might listen and start using the areas.
ReplyDeleteif it was me i would tell the boss that she is not following the rules. she shouldnt be smoking either. if she doesnt follow them she will be fired
ReplyDeleteIf i was in his shoes i would go talk to a boss about it and tell my boss that one of my coworkers wasn't following company conduct and that she wasn't using the designated brake areas and that i felt she was putting me in danger.
