1/27/15 Case Study (50 word min)

Harmless Request?

Gina Marie was recently hired to work as a receptionist for the front lobby.  The company she works for prefers that new hires start at reception and then work their way up.  As a receptionist, she is also responsible for making copies for company associates.  Her friend Bryson stopped by the office during his lunch break to ask her to make 300 copies for him for a college project.  he waited until the last minute to do this and needs them this afternoon.  he brought a package of printer paper from home, but she would still be using the company copier and company time to get it done.  If Bryson doesn't get the copies, he will fail this project.  The company copier does not require a security key, nor do they keep track of the copies made by departments.

What should Gina Marie do?

  1. I think Gina should make the copies for him because he needs it. If the company has a problem with that they can just deal with it. It's not the end of the world. The company can have her do that for her friend she has been working there a while there is no reason they should say no.

  2. I would probably help my friend as long as no one else was making copies, it should be fine. If it would interrupt him too much, then I would suggest to him some other place that he could make copies at. Then he wouldn't have to fail his project, but I would remind him not to wait until the last minute again.

  3. I would help my friend if no one else had to make copies. It shouldn't be a big deal if she wasn't interfering with anyone else. If I couldn't do it, I would try to find him a place where he could make copied. I would tell him to not wait until the last minute next time, so that way if I couldn't do it, he would still have time to go somewhere else and do it.

  4. I would probably make the copies for him. There is no reason why I would get in trouble for helping somebody out. In the end I wouldn't be using much work time to get the copies done. I would let him know that he should call me a day before though

  5. I would help him out but tell him that this is the only time she is going to do this for him because she could get in to trouble if she did. It shouldn't matter as long as anyone else isn't needing any copies.

  6. I would probably make sure that it is ok with my boss then it is gets okayed I would make sure nobody needed to use the copier before starting to make the copies that he needed. I would then tell him that next time he needs to plan better and find a way to get copies because the company cant make copies for everyone.

  8. I would probably help because if nobody told her when she started working that there was no limit on what she could print or there wasn't a rule on working the printer then I would help.

  9. I would ask my boss to make sure if it was okay with them. It is the company copier and ink, so I don't think it would be alright to just use it without permission. If my friend wouldn't be able to finish, then I guess so be it. It doesn't matter if he fails because I don't wish to lose my job. He could have not procrastinated and done it earlier.

  10. I would make sure my boss was okay with it then i would help him because I have access to the copier machine and part of the job description for being the receptionist is that i have to help people make copies.
