  1. An Eye Opening Experience

This article is about a boy who left to go to Taiwan as part of an agricultural exchange program from York. I think this would be a great way to represent what you have learned in Nebraska. And would also be a great way to learn other cultures farming methods and what they do in agriculture. Him and two others were the only ones to get picked from Nebraska. The other 3 were picked from Kansas and Missouri.

  2. Ericson Cattle Auction Report

The Ericson Cattle auctions was held over the holidays and had a higher head count than last year but a smaller count than the previous week. The Ericson auction is held in Ericson, Nebraska. This Auction is mainly for bred heifers and cows. The majority of the cattle are Black Angus with a few Red angus. There were also a few Baldies (angus, herford) cross with high genetic lines. Some of the heifers sold were carrying top of the line AI calve and some were also naturally bred high strung calves.

  3. Water Shortages on the Planes

This article is about the aquifer dropping low causing the farmers to be in a drought. The Ogallala aquifer is the most shallow aquifer in the world and a lot of the plains regions main water source. So farmers are having to cut back on there water usage in the Texas Area causing them to be in a drought.

  4. Goat Cheese on the Rise
This is about how there is more than 30,000 dairy goat farms in the U.S. Many people now want cheese that is made from goat milk. Goat milk has been used for hundreds of years in Europe. By the way I think this is nasty.

    Irrigation concerns
Without irrigation at least half of Nebraska would not be able produce irrigated crops. Today Nebraska is the number one state in the U.S. for total irrigated acres. But warming from climate change and a growing population may put more pressure on Nebraska’s water supply for irrigation. They are worried that this may not go on for much longer.

  5. Goat cheese on the rise

Milk, milk products, and cheese, in the U.S. have come from dairy cows, but the demand from consumers now is milk and cheese made out of goat milk. Now, in the U.S. there are 30,000 dairy goat farms! I didn't know that the demand for goat milk, and milk products was on the rise.

  7. Big harvest, state fair ‘wow’

Crops varied in Nebraska this year, especially noticeable at the state fair. Many people had good crops, but others were hit hard by storms during the growing season and had the opposite. Prices of crops also went decreased from record highs. Area livestock producers said that the livestock prices were good though.

  8. corn performance test

I think its really good that we do corn performance test. It helps us recognize how the corn is coming out and if we need to do anything to improve the corn. This isn't just important to us. Its important to all of us as a whole

  11. LEAD Conference in Kearney, NE Jan 16-17th, 2015

I think it's a good idea to bring in Specialists from businesses and Universities to discuss topics involving Ag and all its aspects. I'm glad they also will have people to provide info on new government regulations. Opening this conference to the public gives everyone equal opportunity to get this information.

  12. Topeka Farm Show

I think it is a good idea to have this show because it will give farmers and future farmers a good glimpse into the farming world by seeing these machines and mechanisms. This will be a good way to show people all the cool ways to use these tools to their advantage. They will be able to help their farm strive.

  16. Where's the bacon

This article was about how people are wanting more pork products. So the goal of pig farmers is to give them what they want which means producing more pork products. So that is causing the production rate to go up 7% this year and likely 5% every year after that.

  17. Big Harvest state Fair "WOW"

Their were a lot of crops types at the state fair. Some of them were healthy but others suffered from hail damage. These damages caused crop prices to drop from record highs last harvest to pretty low this harvest season resulting in a loss in revenue for farmers.
