The Right to Know
June is a 23 year old newspaper reporter who reports on crime in Atlanta. On her way to work one day, she recognized several police officers hanging around her neighborhood. She had interviewed some of them before and figured that, because they weren't in uniform, they must be on an undercover operation. She called Karen, her source in the police department, who told her that a serial rapist had been striking in that neighborhood and there had already been five victims. Karen also told her that if she reported on the sting, the rapist could be tipped off and skip town. He might go to another city and attack more women.
June knows that if she reported the sting, no cop in the city would ever speak to her again. But she also knows that women in her community are in imminent danger and feels that someone has to warn them. What should June do?
Figure out a way where it could work out for both ways as you need to get the criminal but yet not blow the sting depending on what the sting is as well, it could possibly be the helpful part that the sting is for the criminal on the run
ReplyDeleteI think she should wait to announce it because they could make the person leave town and hurt other people there too. The situation is touchy but I would think about waiting for a little more evidence or for someone to actually speak to her about the case before she goes and announces it to the public.
ReplyDeleteI think and probably wait. For more evidence and the cops may find him. Or he may just leave. If she does report the sting, it will probably cause more problems then there already are.
ReplyDeleteI would go around the neighborhood telling the women because it would be better that they catch him before he tries to leave town. There would be many problems because the women that got raped would definately want him to be found.
ReplyDeleteI think she should let somebody higher up know. this kind of stuff isnt something to play around with. Raping is not funny. The CIA needs to know so they can find this rapist and put him in jail.
ReplyDeleteI think she should wait. She doesn't really have any evidence of one certain person that did it, but if she can find out who it is she should try to catch him so he doesn't leave town and get away with it. She should wait, but not too long. Have the police help her to get evidence against the person she thinks.
ReplyDeletei think that she should let someone know whats going on. it's a little messed up that this kind of thing is happening in this place, rape is not cool bro, rape is not cool. just tell someone thats what needs to happen.

ReplyDeleteI think that she just needs to maybe tell her close friends and then let the police handle it. She doesn't need to risk the entire operation. They need to get this guy and if she were to tell a lot of people, then the entire operation could fail and he could get away.
ReplyDeletei think that she should tell some of her lose friends and then let the cops take care of it from there. she shouldnt mess up the whole thing. they need to get the guy and they need to catch him
